How to Apply a Vinyl Decal

Here are detailed instructions on how to apply your new vinyl decal. At the bottom of the page is a link to a simplified version with images that you can save and print.

  1. CLEAN
Wipe clean the surface you are applying the decal to with a mild cleaner such as soapy water or just water. Window cleaners could leave residue which could prevent the decal from sticking to the surface. Allow it to dry. Avoid applying your decal in extreme temperatures. You can add your decal to almost any flat surface, but do choose wisely because most decals are not reusable so apply with patience.
  2. PEEL
Run a credit card or squeegee back and forth on the decal to insure it sticks to the transfer layer. Carefully peel off the backing paper form the decal. The vinyl graphic should be stuck, face-first, to the clear transfer layer. If the decal still does not stick to the backing, slowly place the paper back, repeat step 2 and help by assisting it this time by using your nail or bending the paper until it lifts.
  3. APPLY
Place your decal on the cleaned surface. Use a credit card or squeegee to rub and smooth the decal onto the surface and remove any air bubbles.
  4. REMOVE
Peel the clear transfer layer by removing it off starting from one corner and slowly peeling the opposite corner. If it does not unstick from the transfer layer, use a credit card or squeegee to slowly place it back down and repeat step 4 again.
  5. FINISHED
Once the transfer paper is off you are finished with applying your vinyl decal. Congratulations, you did it! Enjoy your decal. Let us know if you have any problems.
